High Point Seals Series Against Radford

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Radford (3-5, 3-5 BSC) women's volleyball team fell to High Point (6-0, 6-0 BSC) in three sets in the finale on Friday afternoon in the Millis Center.

Set One
A Panther attack error commenced the match with a point for the Highlanders. The defense for High Point kept the offensive front for Radford on their toes while the Panther offense mounted small two and three-point rallies to increase their lead. A kill from Laila Wallace positioned the visitors within a pair of the home team but a seven-point swing for High Point increased the deficit to eight.

Radford kept battling down the stretch with several kills and a block assist but were unable to catch the streaking home team, who closed the set 25-15.

Set Two
A kill from Samantha Reitz and blocks from Wallace and Reitz, pushed the Highlanders out to a 2-0 start in this stanza. From then on Radford maintained a healthy distance ahead of High Point. The Panthers hung around and tied to set seven times.

On the final tie at 19 all, the Panthers added a pair of points off a kill and service ace to take the 21-19 lead. However, an offensive miscue for High Point gave a point to Radford to make the set 21-20. The Panthers would prove to withstand the potential Highlander rally and wrap the set at 25-20.

Set Three
This set was much like the previous, with the teams going point-for-point throughout. Reitz sent a dagger across the court bringing the Radford total to 12 points, trying to surpass High Point's 13. With momentum on their side, the Highlanders were able to force several offensive mishaps from the Panthers to swing the set in their favor 15-13.

A rally from the home team positioned them favorably in the race to 25, as a block from Reitz and Kennedi Johnson put the visitors at 18. High Point sealed the set on a kill from Annie Sullivan.

The Panthers were led by Madison Smith's 17 kills, Abby Bottomley's and Macy Millers combined four aces, Kaley Rammelsberg's six blocks, Maria Miggins' 21 assists, and Bottomley's 18 digs.

The Highlanders' offense was paced by Hailey Flowers' eight kills, Jordan Coomes and Laila Wallace's combined four aces, Johnson's seven blocks, Erin Hetherington's 15 kills, and Grace Green's 14 digs.
