Three New Faces See Action at Brant Tolsma Invite

LYNCHBURG, VA. – Three Highlanders made their first appearances in three different events Saturday at the Brant Tolsma Invite.

Lauren Stuart was the first of the Highlanders to make their debut, competing in the long jump event. Felicia Hewitt also made a strong debut in the 60-meter dash with Sa'Moan Rookard capping of the debuts by competing in the 400-meter race.

The day of competition was highlighted by three personal record achievements by Highlanders. Early in the day Maddie Wright beat her personal-best time in the 60-meter hurdles while Breauna Lane just edged out her previous best time in the 400-meter.

Taylor Tinsley finished the day for Radford by tying her personal best mark in the indoor high jump. Tinsley's mark was her best performance since December 2019 and an impressive mark after the long lay-off since last season.

"Very happy with Taylor and Maddie today," commented director of track and field Shelli Sayers. "Makayla continues to shine in long jump even though it wasn't a consistent day for her. Overall, it was great to finally put spikes and jersey on and start competing again. We still have a lot of work to do to be ready for the outdoor season."

Radford will be in action next week (Feb. 12th and 13th) at the VMI Winter Classic.
