
Radford Drops Match with Ranked Elon

ELON, N.C. – Radford lost a tough match with #25 Elon Wednesday afternoon despite Lindsey Carroll and Jessica Diorio's multi-goal game.
The Highlanders took an early lead in the game at the 27:41 mark in the first half when Grace Gleason scored to give them the 1-0 lead. From there, though, Elon took control of the game by scoring ten-straight to make it a 10-1 game. Lindsey Carroll scored her first goal of the day just before the half ended.
The Highlanders saw much more offensive production in the second half where they scored four goals. Three came from Diorio and Carroll, while the fourth came from the freshman Ashlyn Grogan who scored her first career goal as a Highlander.
Maddie Bowman came up just short of her season-high in saves by recording eight in the game. Katie Bendrick and Jennifer Shield also added two caused turnovers each to help the Highlander cause. Bendrick and Maddie Bowman also both led the team in ground balls, picking up three each. As a team the Highlanders also held the Phoenix to just nine shots, six on goal, in the second half.
