Men’s Soccer Ties UNC Asheville on Thursday

RADFORD, Va. – A pair of early goals by each team led the Radford men's soccer team to tie with UNC Asheville, 1-1, on Thursday night at Cupp Stadium.

Radford had to come from behind after a goal by Nate Evans in the eighth minute gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, Juan Benavides fired a strike from 20 yards out that found the back of the net and tied the game at one.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the final 98 minutes, despite numerous good looks by the Highlanders.

Each team was close in almost every category as the Bulldogs led with 16 shots to Radford's 15. Five of Radford's 15 shots came in the overtime period. Kameron Bell-Cooper led with three shots and landed one on goal. Benavides fired two shots, both on frame.

Joseba Incera tallied six saves in the full 110 minutes of play.
