 BASEBALL

  • The Highlanders will carry a three-game win streak to VMI on Tuesday before returning home to host Presbyterian for a three-game series.
  • Radford was supposed to host Gardner-Webb on Tuesday but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the GWU program.
  • Sean Cheely leads the team with a .347 batting average through the first 14 games. Cheely also has a team-high 17 hits after recording five last week.
  • Connor Bagnieski has a team-high eight RBIs after recording two last week.
  • ETSU (3-8) has wins over NJIT and a win over James Madison to salvage a sweep last weekend.
  • Callen Nuccio has a .311 batting average and 14 hits with 13 RBIs – all leading the team.
  • Presbyterian has been on pause due to COVID since Feb. 27th. The team was swept by Auburn, lost a midweek matchup vs. Wofford and then won the first game of a doubleheader against Eastern Kentucky.
  • Chris Veach and Jake Wyandt are each batting .400 with 18 combined hits – five doubles, one triple and one home run with six RBIs.

  • Radford has won four in a row after a great offensive showcase that includes 49 hits and scored 35 runs. 18 of the 49 hits were extra base hits.
  • The Highlanders were slated to play Norfolk State at home last week, but that four-game series was postponed.
  • This week will feature seven contests – a doubleheader at ETSU and Virginia Tech and a three-game series at Charleston Southern.
  • ETSU enters with a 7-5 record and a 4-4 record at Johnson City. The Bucs have five players hitting over .300 led by Julia Fritz with a team-high 14 hits and a .341 batting average.
  • No. 16 Virginia Tech (10-3) has won all three of its ACC series' including a four-game series at NC State last time out. Keely Rochard leads the Hokies with a 1.27 ERA and an 8-1 record. She's tossed eight complete games and has 64 strikeouts.
  • Charleston Southern (1-6) competed for the first time last weekend since Feb. 20. The Bucs were swept by USC Upstate. Brooklynn Brewington is batting .409 with nine hits and three runs scored.

 
 VOLLEYBALL

  • The Highlanders look to get back on track after dropping five in a row.
  • The previous two matches saw five sets each but UNC Asheville won both. The first game was back and forth and the second saw Radford fall down two sets to none and comeback to force a fifth set.
  • In the two games, Samantha Reitz tallied 34 kills, including a career-high 24 in game two of the series.
  • Radford will host Winthrop for its final two home matches in the spring. The Eagles are 5-5 and have won three of their last five. The two losses came from High Point, where the Eagles were able to take a set.
  • Three seniors will be honored on Friday as Jordan Coomes, Erin Hetherington and Maddie Lentz are geared up for Senior Day.

 
 WOMEN'S SOCCER

  • After two straight road games that saw a win and a tie, Radford is back at home with four straight games.
  • The first is against Charleston Southern on Sunday night.
  • The Highlanders are currently second in the standings behind an undefeated High Point.
  • Maevyn Jones scored the only goal for Radford last week. She leads the team with three goals.
  • The Bucs recently lost to High Point on Sunday afternoon, 1-0. Bri Robinson has all of the team's goals with two.

  
 LACROSSE

  • Radford showed fight and spirit in its last two matches last week in the second half of both their matches, trailing by just one point in the goal total in both halves. 
  • The high level of competition won't let up as Radford searches for its first win of the season against an undefeated Jacksonville who may end up ranked by week's end after wins against High Point, ECU, and #5 Florida.
  • Freshman Ava Goeller burst onto the scene for Radford two Saturdays ago against George Mason and did the same thing this past Saturday at Campbell after leading the team in goals with another hat trick. Goeller also added an assist to be involved with four of the five Highlander goals.
  • Maddie Bowman recorded a season-high in saves at Campbell on Saturday, recording 16 while facing 31 total shots on goal.

 
 MEN'S TENNIS

  • After a long six game road trip, the Highlanders are finally back at home for a couple of home matches.
  • Last week the Highlanders added dominant wins over Tennessee State and Campbell, and also were off to a strong start against Belmont before rain shortened the match.
  • Radford holds a 27-15 overall singles record so far this season, with Konstantinos Raptis and Guilherme Severin tied for the lead with five singles victories each.
  • Radford is 10-9 in doubles play this season Andres Silva and Demis Taramonlis hold the best record on the team at 3-2
  • It's was a battle of preseason favorites last Saturday as Campbell was picked to finish second in the Big South preseason poll and only came five points behind Radford with two first-place votes of their own. Radford won the doubles point and all but one of the singles courts en route to a 6-1 win.

 
 WOMEN'S TENNIS

  • Radford makes one last road stop at Virginia Tech before returning home for Appalachian State and then going back on the road to open up Big South competition at Campbell.
  • Last week Radford only competed in one match at Lipscomb in which they came up just short in a 2-5 loss.
  • Salma Loudili made another comeback victory at Lipscomb after dropping her first set to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 on court two.
  • Katey Freuhauf also picked up her first singles victory of the year on court six winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
  • Last season the Highlanders fought hard and came up just short against Virginia Tech 2-5, but will look to avenge that loss on the same courts.

   
 MEN'S GOLF

  • Radford moves onto its second tournament of the season at the Seahawk Intercollegiate, the second of six tournaments for the Highlanders this season.
  • Last week at the Pinnacle Bank Intercollegiate Radford finished 12th out of 16 teams.
  • The freshman Bobby Dudeck made his Highlander debut and was the top-finisher for Radford at five-over including five birdies on the last day of the tournament.

 
 WOMEN'S GOLF
 

at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate - Monday, March 15th - Tuesday, March 16th

  • Radford moves on to its third tournament of the season at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, the third of six tournaments for the Highlanders this season.
  • Radford's top performer last week was Jayde Dudley (84-77, +17) with the freshman Niki Batac seeing her first action as a Highlander competing individually.
  • Sidney Walker (75, +4) posted the lowest round in day one of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Sunday for the Highlanders.
  • Riko Nagai also had her first hole-in-one as a Highlander during day one of th eBobby Nichols Intercollegiate.
