Radford Falls to Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Radford (2-5) took on fellow New River Valley foe Virginia Tech (4-9) on Monday afternoon and fell 6-1 after falling behind early in the match.

The Highlanders came close to claiming the doubles point with two hard-fought battles on courts two and three. Malin Falk and Emily Brandow won on court two 6-4 which opened the door for the Highlanders to potentially win court three and take the doubles point. Katey Fruehauf and Tyler Blalock battled after trailing early, but ultimately the court went to Virginia Tech 4-6.

In singles play Falk was the lone victorious Highlander on the day with her dominant win in straight sets on court three. Salma Loudili also battled on court two taking the first set, but eventually fell in a third-set tiebreaker.
 
Up Next
Radford will return home for a match against Appalachian State later this week on Thursday with a scheduled start time of 2:00 p.m.
