Radford Falls to Presbyterian in 11 Innings

RADFORD, Va. – Error proved to be costly as the Radford baseball team fell to Presbyterian, 7-6, in 11 innings on Friday evening in Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium.

Radford committed four errors that led to three runs, which could've been a difference maker late in the game. The two errors were made in the fifth inning and led to two runs for Presbyterian and gave them a 4-3 lead.

The Highlanders took the lead in the bottom half of the inning as Sean Cheely scored on a groundout and tied the game. Dac Archer scored on the next at-bat when Connor Bagnieski singled through the right side and gave Radford a one-run lead.

PC tied the game at five in the sixth inning before Bruce Hudson entered with one out and shut the Blue Hose down in the sixth inning. Hudson went on to toss 2.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

Vinnie Venturi relieved Hudson in the ninth and pitched three innings with four strikeouts but allowed two runs to score in the 11th inning. One of the errors allowed the second run of the inning to score and pushed the Blue Hose lead to 7-5.

Radford was able to get a run back in the bottom of the inning but a fly out with the tying run at first ended the game.

Archer was one of four players with a 3-for-5 performance. Cheely, Harless and Matheny each had multi-hit games. Straton Podaras and Bagnieski each had two RBIs. Cheely and Galati each had two-baggers.
