Radford’s Late Rally Falls Short Against Presbyterian

RADFORD, Va. – Despite a late comeback, the Radford men's soccer team fell to Presbyterian, 1-0, on Sunday evening at Cupp Stadium.

Dondre' Robinson had three of Radford's five shots in the first half. He had a few good looks but was unable to capitalize. Presbyterian had six shots in the half but didn't find the back of the net and the two teams were scoreless at the half.

Presbyterian took the lead in the 53' when a save by Joseba Incera bounced back into play. It landed right in front of Daniel Anani and he had an easy score with an open net. With over 30 minutes left to play, Radford was ready for a comeback.

That comeback didn't start until the 85' as Radford fired four of its five shots in the final five minutes. The first two were only five seconds apart and foul call turned over the possession. Robinson's final shot came with 30 seconds left but was saved by the PC keeper.

Luckily, Radford had one final shot with a corner kick. Pape Oumar Gueye played a good ball to the far side of the field and Jayden Gonsalves was able to get a head on it with nine seconds left, but it went wide left of the goal.

Presbyterian was able to run the clock out before the final goal kick. The Blue Hose led with 14 shots, compared to Radford's nine.

Three of Robinson's four shots landed on target. Incera tallied six saves, leading both goalkeepers.
