Welsh Finishes Runner-Up, Highlanders Take Fourth at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Radford women's golf team concluded play at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon as Natalie Welsh and Sidney Walker paved the way for a strong finish for the team with their finishes within the top-five of all competitors.

Day One
On the first day of competition Radford competed in the first two rounds of the tournament with the team shooting 29-over (317) as a team in the first round. Walker led the team after the first round of competition with a strong performance of just 1-over that included three birdies. Welsh also shot 7-over which was second-best on the team, recording two birdies of her own. Riko Nagai also had a birdie on the ninth hole which helped pace her for the third-best finish on the team. Radford sat in sixth place after the first round and would improve their play headed into the second round.

Radford saw improvements from over half of their competitors in the second round which bumped the team into fourth place in the tournament. The Highlanders shot 26-over (314) as a team, with Welsh recording the low round of 1-over. Jimenna Ramirez had the next best performance shooting 7-over with one birdie that came at the seventh hole. This concluded play for the first day of the tournament.

Day Two
Moving on to the second day of competition the Highlanders shot their best round of the tournament at 24-over (312). Welsh, Walker, and Ramirez all finished strong propelling the team to three top-20 finishes. Welsh had the best round of the day at 2-over which helped her finish at second place overall. Walker shot 3-over to finish fifth overall, while Ramirez rounded out the top-finishers for Radford shooting 6-over.
