Goeller Collects Second Freshman of the Week Honor

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following back-to-back hat tricks last week, midfielder Ava Goeller was named Big South Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Tuesday morning.

Goeller started in both games for Radford against two Commonwealth foes in Virginia Tech and William & Mary. Her two early goals against Virginia Tech gave the team a 4-2 lead at the 16:07 mark of the first half.

Against William & Mary her three goals came at important moments in the game. She tied the game at two-all at the 18:05 mark of the first half, gave Radford a 5-4 lead at the 6:43 mark in the first half, and her final goal came with just 2:33 left in the second half and gave Radford a 10-9 lead. Goeller also won three draw controls and caused one turnover over the two games.

Radford would go on to win that game against William & Mary in dramatic fashion, just a couple minutes into overtime.

Goeller and the Highlanders will go on the road later this week for a Saturday conference match-up against Gardner-Webb looking to string together some wins.
