Radford Comes Up Just Short in Intense Battle with Wofford

RADFORD, VA. – Radford competed in the cold weather Sunday afternoon and came up just short in an intense 5-2 loss to Wofford.

For doubles play the Highlanders struggled in the early going dropping courts one and three to give the doubles point to the Terriers. On court one Melissa Ifidzhen and Salma Loudili did battle hard but came up just short 4-6.

In singles play the Highlanders showed life after Malin Falk dominated her opponent on court three to the tune of a 6-4, 6-3 win. At the time this made the match a 2-1 score while the four remaining courts in action were all tightly contested. After a tough tiebreaker in the first set the Terriers would take court four. Court five would clinch the match for Wofford, but Camryn McClure battled hard in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 4-6.

On court two the freshman Loudili flashed excellence once again in a comeback three set victory on court two. Her opponent previously boasted a 4-2 record on court two, and was looking to get her fifth win after going up 6-4 in the first set. After trailing early in set two, Loudili battled back to force a third set winning 6-3. Loudili trailed again in the third set but refused to give up and forced a tiebreaker that she ultimately won 7-6(3). This gave the Highlanders their second singles court of the day, and finished the long match.

Next Up
Radford is taking on a week full of road action with matches scheduled against Lipscomb, Belmont, and Virginia Tech in the coming week.
