Radford Finishes Big South Regular Season Play on High Note

RADFORD, Va. – A rainy Saturday couldn't keep Radford (6-9, 4-2 BSC) down in a strong 5-2 win against Gardner-Webb (0-0, 0-0 BSC) to wrap up regular season Big South play.

The strong performance started in doubles play which was deeply contested on all three courts. Tyler Blalock and Katey Fruehauf were the first to finish, coming back after trailing early to win 7-5. Malin Falk and Emily Brandow were the clinching court for the Highlanders after a back-and-forth battle came down to a tiebreaker that they won 7-6(6). Salma Loudili and Melissa Ifidzhen were trailing 5-6 on court one before the point was clinch and they went unfinished.
 
As rain moved into the area, competition was forced indoors for singles play. Falk was dominant once again for Radford with her tenth singles victory of the year in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Loudili was also back to dominant form on court one winning 6-3, 7-5 to give Radford a vital point and a 3-0 lead. Gardner-Webb took courts two and four, though, and the match would be determined on courts five and six.
 
The clincher came on court six from Camryn McClure who battled hard to win in straight sets 7-6(6), 6-2 and give Radford the win. Fruehauf added another singles court to the Highlanders' total with her 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 win on court five.
