Gareiss and Corbett Shine at Wofford Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Radford completed competition at the Wofford Invitational Tuesday afternoon placing within the top-ten for the second straight week. Patrick Gareiss and Bryce Corbett both carded top-ten finishes after strong performances in all three rounds of the invitational.

Day One
On the first day of competition the Highlanders competed in the first two rounds of the tournament and shot 6-over (294) as a team in the first round. Gareiss had the best performance in the first-round shooting 1-over and recording an eagle on the fifth hole. Freshman Bobby Dudeck also shot 1-over in the first round with a team-high five birdies. Tyler Hull and Nicholas Taliaferro also started their tournament performances well by shooting just 2-over.

Radford would finish the first round in sixth place before moving onto the second round. The team played better in the second-round shooting 4-over (292). Gareiss continued his strong play leading the team with a 2-under showing, while the reigning freshman of the week Corbett rebounded in a big way shooting 1-under. Taliaferro also carried his strong play into the second round, replicating his first-round performance at 2-over. Corbett led the team with five birdies, but Taliaferro and Gareiss also picked up four each.
This concluded play in the first day of the tournament with Radford sitting in tied for fifth place out of 15 teams at 294-292 and 10-over after two rounds of play.

Day Two
On the final day of competition Radford competed in the third and final round. Corbett played one of his best rounds of the season at 6-under which helped vault him into the top-10 finishers amongst all competitors. Gareiss also used four straight birdies in the four final holes to cement his place as the top finisher for the Highlanders overall at 3-under. Taliaferro also finished strong at 1-over, recording the lone eagle of the round for the team on the fifth hole.

The Highlanders as a team shot 2-under (286) in the third round and finished sixth overall in the tournament, ahead of five Big South squads. In the third round alone Radford recorded 22 birdies with Corbett leading the way with eight and Gareiss not far behind with six.

Radford now turns its focus to the last and most important tournament of the season in the Big South Tournament in Ninety Six, S.C. between April 18th and April 21st.
