Women’s Soccer Falls to Campbell in Big South Tournament

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's soccer team 2020-21 season came to an end on Tuesday as the No. 3 seed Campbell scored three unanswered goals in a 3-1 score.
 
Izzy Armstrong scored her second goal of the season in the 26th minute as Brianna Oliver found Saleena Lynch outside the 18 and she played it into Armstrong who was streaking in for the score from about three yards out.
 
Just two minutes later Campbell scored its first goal and knotted things up at one. Campbell took nine of its 14 shots in the first half, whereas the Highlanders only had three. Radford had seven goals in the second half but none of them found the back of the net.
 
Radford had a few good looks in the second half. The first came in the 66th minute when Oliver fired a shot that went just right of the goal. The second came when Kayla Thomas fired a shot inside the 18 but it went right of the posts. Thomas's shot came when the deficit was two goals in the 78th minute.
 
In the 57th minute Jessica Donald scored the game-winner for the Camels after Ashleigh Harris found Donald for the goal. Lexi Dean was slightly out of position and was unable to recover. Despite that goal, she kept Radford in the game with five saves. Three of them were high-caliber saves and two came in the first half and one came in the second.
 
The Camels notched their final goal in the 74th minute when Cazzi Norgren ripped a shot from 20-plus yards out that grazed the crossbar and continued into the back of the net.
 
Katie Oliver led with three shots, including one on goal and Alexeis Kirnos tallied two of Radford's 10 shots.
 
This is the first time in three seasons the Highlanders will not make the Big South Tournament Final.
