 BASEBALL

  • The Highlanders won the series over Winthrop this weekend after dropping the first game of the series. In the final two games of the series, Radford outscored the Eagles, 17-5.
  • Garrett Matheny tallied seven RBIs in the series, while Will Harless had a 1.692 on-base plus slugging percentage and went 6-for-10 through three games.
  • Greg Duncan tossed a seven-inning complete game in the second game of the series. He only allowed six hits, with one unearned run en route to his fourth win of the season.
  • Longwood enters with an 11-21 record and is led by freshman Eliot Dix with a .362 batting average and 30 RBIs.
  • High Point will travel to Radford for the weekend series. Cole Singsank leads the team with a .337 batting average, while Peyton Carr's 22 RBIs are a team-high and his five home runs are tied for tops on the team.
  • The Panther's Friday night starter, Grey Lyttle, leads the team with 47.0 innings pitched and has 56 strikeouts, while holding opponents to a .212 batting average.

  • Radford sits in fourth place of the Big South standings and will have a big week to make up some ground with a three-game weekend series hosting Presbyterian after a midweek tilt at Virginia.
  • The Highlanders tallied 23 hits in the Longwood series last week and was able to pick up a win on Tuesday evening to even up the series.
  • Talia Douglas went 4-for-8 in the three games with three doubles and five RBIs.
  • Virginia is led by Abby Weaver with a .328 batting average, while Katie Goldberg had a team-high 34 hits with 23 RBIs.
  • Rebecca Clark leads Presbyterian offensively with a .321 batting average, while Haley Haselden has a 2.06 ERA with 73 strikeouts through 85.0 innings. Jenna Greene has a team-high 81 strikeouts through 69.2 innings pitched.

  • The Highlanders had a tough week last week and will look to rebound in their regular season finale against Presbyterian on Wednesday.
  • Radford has already clinched their spot in the postseason but their opponent still is not locked up.
  • Ava Goeller was the team's highest goal scorer last week with four goals against Campbell and one of the team's four goals against High Point. She also caused a turnover, picked up three ground balls, and won five draw controls over the two matches.

 
 MEN'S GOLF


at Big South Championships - Sunday, April 18th - Wednesday, April 21st

  • Radford moves onto its final tournament of the season at the Big South Championship, which has already finished play through the first round.
  • Patrick Gareiss (73-70-70, -3) was the top performing Highlander at the Wofford Invitational last week, finishing tied for 7th out of all competitors
  • Bryce Corbett (78-71-66, -1) also performed well for Radford, finishing second on the team and tied for ninth amongst all competitors.
  • Through the first round of the Big South tournament the Highlanders are currently in third place with Hunter Duncan leading the team so far tied for fifth overall at 2-under.

  
 WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
 

at Aggie Invitational - Saturday, April 24th

  • Radford is back in action for its fifth competition this week, this time at the Aggie Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T.
  • Last week the Highlanders had a long day with multiple record book appearances in a single-day invitational at James Madison.
  • The biggest mark of the day came in the 3k where Rachel Millirons set a new program record with a 9:56.54 time. MegAnne Gilmore also set a personal record in the same event, putting herself eighth all-time in the record book.
  • Rachel Werking added to her impressive outdoor season so far with a season best in the 1500m which ranks sixth in program history.
  • On the field side of competition there wasn't a lack of program-best times either. Maddie Wright and Makayla Jones put their names in the record book with their marks in the javelin throw.
