Big Inning Costs Radford Series Opening Victory at Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Radford softball team fell victim to a nine-run inning that was too much to overcome as the Highlanders dropped the series opener to Campbell, 13-5, on Saturday at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.

Radford struck first with a run in the top of the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Talia Douglas. Campbell took the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame.

The Highlanders answered with a couple of runs of their own with a pair of runs in the third and fourth innings taking a 5-2 lead. Douglas added another RBI to her statline. Riley Oakes also added to the RBI total with a run in the fourth. Douglas and Oakes finished with four of Radford's six hits and had all three of the RBIs.

Campbell scored nine runs in the fifth inning and added two more in the sixth to give them an eight-run led putting the run-rule into effect in six innings.

Sydney Fisher and Abby Wilson each tallied a hit for the Highlanders as well.
