CONWAY, S.C - The Radford University Volleyball team fell to the East Carolina Pirates 3-0 Friday morning in the first match of the Chanticleer Classic hosted by Coastal Carolina University.
The first two sets featured back-and-forth play with the Pirates pulling away decisively towards the end of the first set, winning 25-18. East Carolina just squeaked by in the second set 33-31. The third and final set of the match saw a strong start for the Highlanders, taking an 8-6 lead before a strong run from East Carolina put an end to the match, winning the set 25-17.
KEY STATS
- Taylor O'Neal finished the match with a team-high 10 kills and was second for the Highlanders with 11 digs.
- O'Neal, along with Kennedi Johnson, were the only Radford players to reach double-digit points with 11 and 10, respectively.
- The Highlanders recorded a season-high five solo blocks, led by Laila Wallace with three.
UP NEXT
The Highlanders have an opportunity to rebound with two matches Saturday, beginning with Coastal Carolina at 11 a.m., followed by UNCW at 2 p.m. to finish out the Chanticleer Classic.
