RICHMOND, Va. – Playing in his hometown of Richmond, senior
Nicholas Taliaferro shot four-under par and sits tied for seventh to lead the Radford Men's Golf team after two rounds of the VCU Shootout. The Highlanders are tied for fifth out of 12 teams.
Taliaferro was -2 in both the first and second round on Monday, sinking seven birdies including four that came in quick succession during the back nine of the second round. He enters Tuesday's final round within striking distance of the current leader, VCU's Charlie Kennedy.
Fellow senior
Tyler Hull also had a strong showing, shooting 72 in the first round and then 70 in the second round to climb 10 spots on the leaderboard.
Sophomore
Bryce Corbett (+1) and senior
Ryan Neil (+1) are both tied for 34
th in the 72-golfer field. Corbett joined his teammates with a 70 in the second round thanks in large part to four birdies in five holes between holes 1 and 5 towards the back of his second round gauntlet.
Senior
Hunter Duncan faced some struggles in the first round, but righted the ship with a second-round 71. He moved up eight spots in the second half of the day to put nearly every Highlander in the top half of the standings.
As a team, Radford is tied with Commonwealth rival Old Dominion for fifth place at six-under par. Richmond leads the pack by a seven-stroke margin.
