BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – A season-best performance from graduate student
Tori Britton wasn't enough as the Radford volleyball team was swept by Gardner-Webb on Friday night.
The Rhode Island transfer entered the night with a season high of seven kills – a feat she accomplished against Eastern Kentucky on Aug. 26 and Rutgers on Sept. 2. She passed that number in just two sets and finished the night with nine kills on 17 attack attempts for a .353 hitting percentage.
Fiona Baker supplied a team-high 13 assists to Britton and her teammates while
Estella Sawyer dished out nine assists and
Jackeline Nerro added six more.
A total of eight different Highlanders recorded multiple kills in the match, but an overall hitting percentage of .114 with 18 attack errors and eight service errors erased any potential momentum.
Shelby Hernandez played strong defense once again, leading all players with 12 digs.
Gardner-Webb's control of the match only increased with each set, tallying 41 kills and five service aces. The hosts were paced by Avery Cole's 10 kills while McKenna Timmerman and Kylee Garrison had nine kills each.
