Men's Soccer Falls to NC State, 2-0

RALEIGH, N.C. — In a final tune-up before the regular season finale, the Radford men's soccer team fell to NC State 2-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at Dail Soccer Field.

"I am really proud of the effort our guys put in tonight versus a very good NC State team," said Radford head coach Chris Barrett. "Our guys had a great attitude and focus tonight. We would have liked to have kept more possession and created more chances to score, but we were able to see many of our young guys who haven't seen many minutes so far this year. I was impressed with how much energy and positive spirit we brought to the game tonight. This will serve us well in our remaining conference games."

Radford (4-9-2) made good use of the non-conference matchup, as seven Highlanders made their first start of the season. Several players also saw extended playing time for the first time this year, including freshman Matt Lucas, who recorded the Highlanders' only shot on goal of the evening in the 59th minute.

NC State (6-5-4) was paced by Drew Lovelace, who scored two goals. The first marker came in the 35th minute, and he followed that up with another strike in the 60th minute. As a team, the Wolfpack outshot Radford 15-4, and also held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
