Box Score

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Radford men's soccer program battled hard and earned a tie in nonconference action at Campbell Wednesday night, as Skyler Denny's goal helped Radford finish with a 1-1 tie.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

The goal for Skyler Denny is his first of the season in just his second match with the Highlanders.
Denny is also the tenth different Highlander to tally a goal this season.
Carson Danner added the assist on the lone goal, earning his second point of the year.
Radford's offense was active throughout the match finishing with 17 shots. Radford also outdrew Campbell in corners 7-4.
The tie breaks a streak of seven straight losing efforts for Radford against Campbell, dating back all the way to 2018.

COACH CORMACK QUOTABLE
"This was a very evenly fought game overall, but I thought in the second half we probably had the slight edge to win. It's devastating to concede so late, but it's our first result away from home and something to build on going in to this huge stretch of games."

PLAY BY PLAY
Through the opening 15 minutes, Radford was faced with a consistent Campbell attack but stood strong to keep the Camels off the board. The hosts tallied four shots, two on goal with a pair of saves by Miller, through the opening 16 minutes. Over the final 74 minutes, Radford's defense would allow just two looks to come on goal.

A corner kick in the 18th minute helped Radford flip momentum back to their side as Carter McClain was able to get off a shot, albeit blocked. Campbell's first booking helped Radford get another opening in 21st minute, but that attempt by Gabriele Stellati was saved.

The Highlanders would get a trio of corner tries in the 28th minute, but otherwise the half would end uneventful in a 0-0 tie. In the second half, Radford's offense really started to click as Danner and Zimbeva got off multiple shots looking to break the ice. Those attempts would keep coming with consistency until the team broke through in the 76th minute. Denny would strike for his first career goal at the Division I level to give Radford their first lead over Campbell since the opening minutes of a match back in 2021.

Radford kept pressure on over the final 20 minutes and got more shot attempts from Hugo Roman, Jayce Pagano and Dax Booth. Unfortunately, the Highlanders would concede the game-tying goal in the 88th minute as Campbell slipped through for the equalizer. That 1-1 score would stand over the final minutes despite one last shot on target by Roman, as the Highlanders earned the 1-1 tie on the road.

UP NEXT
Radford looks to continue momentum into their final home match coming this Sunday, October 18th. Radford will host UNC Asheville for a 4:00 p.m. kick off on ESPN+ to close out their regular season at Tom Lillard Field at Cupp Stadium.
