RADFORD, Va. – The Radford volleyball team more than held its own against the Big South Conference favorites, showing a ton of fight in a 3-0 loss to High Point on Saturday night.
Sophie Paspal and
Grace Tulevech led the Highlanders' (6-12, 2-4 Big South) attack with eight kills each. Paspal was the most efficient player on the floor for the home team, hitting .400 on just 15 attack attempts.
Fiona Baker and
Jackeline Nerro matched each other with 15 assists each while Nerro completed her first career double-double with 12 digs.
Shelby Hernandez topped the category with 13 digs of her own.
The Panthers (12-7, 5-0 Big South) controlled most of the first set, jetting out to a 1-0 lead after posting a score of 25-15 with 13 kills and four blocks.
It was the second set that rather exposed what Radford is made of as it battled its way 23-23 tie as the set neared its end. HPU snagged the final two points however, taking a 2-0 lead.
The third set was back-and-forth to start, before High Point went on a run that put them ahead comfortably. Despite their efforts, the Highlanders couldn't hold on and dropped the third and final set.

- Radford recorded 31 assists on 34 kills
- The second set was the Highlanders' best thanks to a game-high 14 kills on a .190 hitting percentage
- Baker and Nerro each tallied one service ace

Radford hits the road to take on Gardner-Webb on Friday, Oct. 14 at 6pm and USC Upstate on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 2pm.
