SERIES HISTORY
The Highlanders and Spartans have a deep history dating back 30 years including a run where both squads played consistently against each other in the Big South Championship in the 1980's and 1990's. The two historic squads are meeting again for the first time since 2017 where Radford was victorious 56-53 on the home court. Overall in the series, UNC Greensboro owns a slight 10-9 edge.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNC Greensboro comes into Wednesday morning's battle with an even 1-1 record after defeating Division III Guilford College 100-74 and falling to Gardner-Webb 66-83. The Spartans offense has been electric so far this season to the tune of 83 points per game while shooting 47.3% overall from the floor. The team is also forcing seven more turnovers a game than they're giving up.

Sophomore Nasia Powell leads the team through the early going with 32 points over the first two games with 20 of those points coming against Gardner-Webb. The forward Khalis Cain leads the Spartans at the boards with 13 so far this season while also scoring 14 points and shooting 54%. The Spartans are an experienced team coming into this season with no freshman in their first two games' starting five.

TRAYLOR MAKES DEPARTMENT HISTORY
Earlier this week it was announced that Ashlyn Traylor had earned Big South freshman of the week honors after her stellar debut in three games last week averaging 14.7 points per game. It was a historic occasion for both basketball programs at Radford. With men's basketball freshman Kenyon Giles also winning freshman of the week honors, it marked just the fifth time in Radford history that the women's and men's basketball teams both took home freshmen of the week awards for the same week of play. The last time a Radford duo won the awards was in 2005 when Kelli Darden and Josh Fox both took home the conference honor.

SHOOTING LEADERS
Radford currently sits within the top-four of multiple shooting categories for the Big South. Through three games Radford as a team is shooting 41.8% (third), holding opponents to 34.5% shooting (third) and leads the conference at defending the three-pointer by holding opponents to just 19.6% from beyond the arc.

RETURNING THE FAVOR
The last time these two programs met up in 2017 came within the Dedmon Center on Education Day with thousands of excited Highlander fans from around the local areas' elementary schools. This Wednesday the Spartans will repay the favor, as it will be their Education Day, thus the 11 a.m. tip time.
