RADFORD, Va. – Radford women's basketball head coach Mike McGuire announced Friday morning that graduate assistant Katie Holler is being promoted as an assistant coach and Director of Women's Basketball Operations. Holler replaces Carlie Clary, who moved into the Radford Athletics administrative office as the Director of Business Operation after spending nine seasons (7 as Director of Basketball Operations) in the program.
Entering her second season with Radford women's basketball, Holler boasts three seasons of experience as a member of a NCAA Division I program, having spent two seasons as a women's basketball manager when completing her undergraduate program at Syracuse University.
"I am extremely grateful to Head Coach Mike McGuire for believing in me and giving me this opportunity," said Holler. "Since joining the program last year, I have already learned so much from him both on and off the court, and I'm excited to continue being part of such a special program. I am honored and eager to take on this new role and look forward to continuing to help Radford women's basketball grow and succeed in every way possible."
"I am excited to announce Katie (Holler's) promotion from being a graduate assistant to an assistant coach/director of basketball operations role on our staff," stated McGuire. "Katie did exceptional work as our graduate assistant and went above and beyond in her role last season. She has exceptional drive, is a bright basketball mind, and has a passion for coaching. She will have a dual role as an assistant coach and will oversee several of our daily operations. Katie has a bright future, and I am happy that we can help her with the start of her collegiate coaching career."
Last season, Holler conducted scouting and film breakdowns to prepare for multiple opponents, organized and edited practice and game film, assisted in practice and skill development workouts, coordinated and supervised the "Ball Girl" program for all home games, and participated in recruiting efforts which included transfer portal tracking and evaluation.
While at Syracuse, Holler assisted the Orange women's basketball program with player workouts, daily operations, travel logistics, and equipment management while supporting the overall success of the program. During her first season as a manager (2023-24), she was part of an Orange team that earned a win in the NCAA Tournament and finished 24-8.
In addition to being a manager, Holler was a member of the club women's basketball team for three seasons, where she helped the team win the North Atlantic Regional Championship and earn a spot in the National Club Basketball Association Tournament in 2025.
A northern Virginia native, Holler attended St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly, Va., where she played on the varsity basketball team for two seasons. She played a role in helping the team win VISAA champions her senior year.
Holler received a Bachelor of Science degree from the David B. Falk College of Sport at Syracuse in 2025 as a Sport Management major and Emerging Sport Enterprise minor.
