RADFORD, Va. – Radford women's basketball head coach Mike McGuire announced Thursday morning that Michala Hash has joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Hash brings nine seasons of coaching experience to the Radford staff. She spent the past two seasons with the Tusculum University Pioneers, where she took over as interim head coach for the final month of the 2025-26 season after previously serving as an assistant coach. In doing so, Hash became the first former Pioneer to play and serve as head coach of the NCAA Division II program.
"I'm truly honored to join the program," added Hash. "Coach McGuire has built a strong foundation, and I have tremendous respect for the culture and success that's been established here. I'm excited to grow and learn from the staff, connect with our student-athletes, and contribute to their development both on and off the court. I look forward to bring passion, energy, and value to the program. I'm also eager to hit the ground running in my role as recruiting coordinator by helping identify and attract talented student-athletes who align with the culture and vision of Radford women's basketball. Go Highlanders!"
"Michala (Hash) is an exciting addition to our coaching staff," said McGuire. "She brings a wealth of coaching experience at the Division I and II levels as well as leadership experience in being an athletic director at the high school level. Hash brings a versatile skill set and deepens our overall staff leadership abilities. We will be able to rely on Michala to assist with recruiting, player development, and leadership. Our staff improved with the addition of Hash, and I look forward to working with her closely moving forward."
Prior to returning to her alma mater as a coach, Hash was the head girls basketball coach at Mount Juliet Christian Academy from 2021-24 while also briefly serving as interim athletic director at the Nashville-area school. In the season before arriving at Mount Juliet, Hash was the coordinator of women's basketball at Sacred Heart for the 2020-21 campaign.
Hash had a stop at Coker University in South Carolina, where she was an assistant coach for two seasons. She stepped into the interim head coaching role for the Division II Cobras during the summer and fall of 2020.
The Woodlawn, Va. native graduated cum laude from Tusculum in 2016 after playing for three seasons with the Pioneers, receiving a bachelor of science degree in psychology with a minor in coaching. Hash spent two seasons as a grad assistant at Gardner-Webb, where she earned a master of arts degree in sports education in 2018.
