Traylor Collects Second Big South Freshman of the Week Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Monday afternoon that Ashlyn Traylor has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week, the second weekly award for Traylor just three weeks into the 2022-23 campaign.

The Franklin, Ind. native continues to amaze in just her third week on the collegiate scene, collecting two double-doubles in victories over Bluefield State and UNCW last week. Against Bluefield State, Traylor came just one assist short of the first triple-double in program history as she finished the game with 15 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. In Sunday's win against UNCW, Traylor wasted no time earning another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Through six games this season, the newcomer ranks eighth in the Big South for points per game (12.2) and second for assists per game (3.7). Traylor is the first Highlander to win the freshman of the week award twice in one season since Khiana Johnson won it twice during the 2016-17 season.

Traylor and the Highlanders are currently preparing for their Education Day battle with College of Charleston that is slated for Wednesday, November 30th with tip set for 11 a.m. on ESPN+.
