Softball Drops Both Games in Day Two of Chattanooga Challenge

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Radford softball program dropped both their games on day two of the Chattanooga Challenge to Purdue Fort Wayne 4-2 and Chattanooga 4-0.

Game 1
One bad inning was all it took in Radford's first game of the day. Purdue Fort Wayne was able to jump out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, securing all the runs they'd need to win the game.

Radford did not go away quietly, however, as the team attempted to chip away at the lead and mount a comeback. The freshman Cori McMillan added another home run to her impressive start in the season to make it a 4-1 game in the top of the second inning.

From there, Emily Spingarn settled in and tossed a scoreless game over the final five innings. In the top of the third inning Radford was able to add another run thanks to a Jordan Moss single to the shortstop. 4-2 was where the score would stand when the game went final, despite Madison Canady breaking out for three hits in the game.

Game 2
Skyler DeHart got the starting nod for the first time this weekend against Chattanooga. DeHart tossed a strong game giving up just one run over her first four innings. The Highlanders fell victim to the wrong end of a perfect game tossed by Brooke Parrott, though, and lost 4-0.

Up Next
Radford is back in action and looking to finish strong with their final game of the Chattanooga Challenge when they face a strong Tennessee Tech squad tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
