RADFORD, Va. - The Radford women's lacrosse team fell to 0-3 on the season with their 15-5 loss at home against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Friday afternoon.
For the Highlanders it was once again the story of one less-than-ideal quarter marring the rest of the game as the Chanticleers built a 7-1 lead after one quarter.
Grace Gleason got on the board directly off of an assist from her sister,
Margaret Gleason, as she tallied the lone goal in the first. The tally ended a 6-0 start for the Chants before Avery McIlwaine added one more to end the period.
The scoring slowed in the second as Radford was outscored just 3-1, with
Katie Carroll providing her second goal of the year. Coastal Carolina was then able to keep the momentum going into the second half with a 3-0 third quarter, forcing a running clock for the majority of the second half.
The Highlanders were able to find a little life in the final period of play but it was too little too late.
Margaret Gleason provided two goals to go with her assist - her fourth and fifth of the year.
River Rupert added another goal as the Highlanders took the fourth 3-2 to keep the final margin at 10.
