ST. SIMON'S ISLAND, Ga. – The Radford men's golf team sits atop the leaderboard after the first day of the Sea Palms Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina.
 
Playing on the Par 71, 6,664-yard course at the Sea Palms Resort, the Highlanders are shooting +14 to lead all 19 teams in the tournament. They shot 294 (+10) in the first round and are shooting +4 in the second round, which was suspended late in the day due to darkness.
 
Sophomore Bryce Corbett was on fire for much of the day, shooting even in the first round and -2 so far in the second round. The Battlefield High School product lit up the front nine of the second round, notching birdies on five of the first eight holes. He sits tied for 2^nd going into Saturday.
 
Senior Tyler Hull isn't far behind, moving up 12 spots in the second round into a tie for 7^th. He sank five first-round birdies, including three straight on the 10^th-12^th holes, and then added three more in the second round.
 
Patrick Gareiss and Nicholas Taliaferro are each tied for 31^st at 7-over par thus far. Gareiss had his fair share of struggles in the first round, but has really found his groove in the second round, highlighted by a -2 front nine. Taliaferro was the opposite, getting off to a fast start before ceding some ground later on.
 
Hayden miller rounds out the group, sitting tied for 85^th. His best moments of the day came in the form of birdies on the 2^nd and 7^th holes of the first round.
 
Dayton is also in the hunt, sitting in second at +16. Oakland's Thomas Giroux (-7) is running away with things on the individual leaderboard.
