Highlanders Downed by Owls

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Radford women's lacrosse team fell to 0-5 on the year with a 16-5 defeat at the hands of the Kennesaw State Owls Tuesday. The Owls entered the game after a 22-9 trouncing of Wofford and continued that momentum with a fast start against the Highlanders.

In the first quarter the Radford was forced to weather a flurry of scores from Kennesaw State as they tallied seven goals. Molly O'Brien scored her fourth goal of the season at the 10:18 mark before Jessica Diorio added a second goal with 14 seconds remaining in the period to make it 7-2 in favor of the Owls after 15 minutes.

The second quarter was more of the same. Grace Gleason hit the top corner for her third goal of the season at the 5:37 mark but it was not enough to counter five goals from the Owls. The two teams entered halftime with a 12-3 margin.

The scoring slowed in the third with just two goals for the Owls to go with Radford goals for Margaret Gleason and a second goal for Jessica Diorio.

The Owls got moving again on the offensive end to close out the game with two more goals in the fourth quarter, holding Radford scoreless.
