CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Radford's
Patrick Gareiss has been named the Big South's Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Thursday afternoon.
The junior from Chesapeake, Va. earns the first conference award of his career after a stellar showing at the Wofford Invitational earlier this week. He shot 70-73-71—214 to finish -2 overall and place 10
th out of 96 golfers.
Gareiss recorded three birdies in the tournament, including two in the first round, as well as 11 birdies. His effort helped the Highlanders take 4
th place out of 18 teams – their sixth top-5 finish of the year.
He joins
Bryce Corbett,
Nicholas Taliaferro, and
Hayden Miller as winners of the weekly Big South Men's Golfer of the Week award this season.
Radford now turns its attention to the Big South Championships, the last tournament on the 2021-22 schedule as of now. The conference tourney begins on Wednesday, April 20 and concludes on Saturday, April 23 with the winner earning a spot in the NCAA Regionals.
