
Highlanders Fall to Gardner-Webb

RADFORD, Va. - The Radford women's lacrosse team fell to Gardner-Webb 17-10 Wednesday in the team's final home game of the season. Four players scored for the Highlanders and Olivia Hunter contributed 12 saves to the effort.
The Highlanders were led on the day by Margaret Gleason who scored four goals and an assist, including three goals in a span of 1:22 late in the fourth quarter. Margaret's sister, Grace Gleason also found the back of the net with two goals. Gleason also secured a game-high five ground balls.
Carlie Rosenburg scored her first goal of the season in the first quarter before adding a second before halftime. Katie Carroll and Linley Tirrell scored the other two goals for the Highlanders with Carroll also tallying an assist.
The Highlanders excelled on the draw control, a major point of improvement throughout the season. The two teams were even on the day with 15 apiece while Laura Ferko grabbing five herself. River Rupert recorded four, Linley Tirrell added three, and Grace Gleason secured two draw controls. Ferko and Gleason were also a part of the defensive effort in the game with two caused turnovers each, contributing to Radford's nine on the game.
Ultimately, it was a game of runs which saw Gardner-Webb make a run in the second half that the Highlanders could not match.

The Highlanders travel to South Carolina for a matchup with Presbyterian College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
