Taramonlis Named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Wednesday afternoon that Demis Taramonlis had been named Big South Player of the Week after his flawless singles and doubles record on court one last week.

Taramonlis picked up a pair of huge singles wins for the Highlanders last week in the thick of conference play. Against Gardner-Webb he won in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 to clinch the match for the Highlanders. Although the team didn't get the result they wanted against Campbell, Taramonlis was still dominant on the top flight winning 7-5, 6-3.

In doubles play teaming up with Andres Silva, the duo finished the conference regular season with a pair of wins. Against Gardner-Webb Taramonlis won an insane tiebreaker 7-6(11) and against Campbell he was dominant in the 6-1 victory.

With the four victories last week the junior sealed up his best conference season yet going unbeaten with a 7-0 record in singles and unbeaten with a 4-0 record in doubles play with all matches played on the top court.

Big South play has concluded for the Highlanders with an impressive 6-1 record. Radford is locked in as the two seed for the upcoming conference tournament in Charlotte, N.C. and will play the winner of the three seed vs. six seed quarterfinal match.
