RADFORD, Va. — The Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs used a seven-run second inning to dispatch the Radford baseball team 12-2 on a rainy Friday afternoon at Carter Memorial Stadium.
The Runnin' Bulldogs scored the first runs of the game on a two-run single by Humberto Torres. Later in the frame, Pete Capobianco checked in with an RBI double that plated two, extending the visitors lead to 7-0.
Radford (8-21, 2-8 Big South) was able to strike in the home half of the second, when right fielder

James Taussig with an RBI groundout fielder's choice.
Later in the sixth inning, catcher
Julian Rojas doubled down the left field line to plate third baseman
Zack Whitacre. For the day, Rojas was 2-for-3.
Gardner-Webb (11-20, 2-5 Big South) used the long-ball to their advantage. Although Radford was outhit only 12-10, the Runnin' Bulldogs hit two home runs, including one by Torres in the 3rd inning and a two-run shot by Capobianco in the 4th.
Joe Simeone (4-4) pitched a gem for Gardner-Webb, tossing seven innings of two-run ball with seven strikeouts and no walks to earn the win.
Gene McGough (0-5) took the loss for Radford.
