RADFORD, Va. — Shortstop David Bryant recorded three hits and drove in three runs, but it was not enough as the Radford baseball team fell to Longwood 10-6 on Saturday afternoon.

Playing in his final series at Carter Memorial Stadium, Bryant helped Radford (14-31, 7-13 Big South) dig out of an early 4-1 deficit. In the second inning, the senior sent an RBI single up the middle that scored first baseman Ryan Gilmore, cutting the deficit to two runs.

Later in the fourth inning, Bryant again singled to center, this time plating left fielder Adam Morris to cut the Longwood lead to 4-3.

However, the Lancers (20-29, 10-10) had the response, as Hunter Gilliam checked in with an RBI single in the sixth. Longwood would score five runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Keondre Shelton.

Kevin Warunek (4-3) was the winning pitcher for Longwood, tossing five innings of three-run ball. He was relieved by Dominick D'Ercole, who pitched the final four innings of the contest.

Zach Davidson (1-5) took the loss for Radford, yielding two earned runs (four in total) over 1.1 innings of work.

NOTABLE STATS

• With a 2-for-4 day including a double, center fielder Cameron Pittman extended his hitting streak to nine games.
• Gilmore also went 2-for-4, and scored two runs.
• RHP Will Hunt recorded four strikeouts in relief.

UP NEXT
Radford will host the rubber match of the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. Before the game, Radford will honor their eight seniors as part of Senior Day.
