Four Highlanders Notch Victories at 2023 ITA Regionals

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Radford men's tennis program competed in the ITA Regionals this past weekend facing some of the top competition in the Mid Atlantic region.

Four out of five Highlanders that competed recorded singles wins while Guilherme Severin and Charles Courteau highlighted doubles play winning two matches to advance into the Gold Draw where they won one match in the back draw.

On the opening day of the competition Robert Hagen picked up a pair of singles wins. Hagen first defeated Ryan Boland from Loyola Maryland 6-2, 6-3 before going on to also defeat Ernesto Ruy from Saint Joseph's 6-4, 7-6(6).

Manfredi Vergine also earned a singles win in the opening day by defeating Zavan Fahim from George Mason 7-6(4), 7-5. Severin got a huge win upsetting the third-seeded Jakob Cadonau from Old Dominion 6-2, 6-3. Filippo Marangoni rounded out the singles results defeating Nick Lawliss from Loyola Maryland 7-6(3), 6-2.

In doubles play, Radford got a pair of wins from the pairing of Courteau and Severin. The duo defeated a pair from George Mason 8-1 and took down a pair from Duquesne 8-6 to round out the weekend.

Radford concludes its Fall Schedule in a couple weeks when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the Wake Forest Invitational from November 3rd through November 5th.
