RADFORD, Va. – The Radford volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over Presbyterian fueled by a dominant performance from Olivia Flanagan inside the Dedmon Center on Friday evening.
The dominant win for the Highlanders now makes their record for the 2023 season stand at 5-16 with a 4-8 record in the Big South. Meanwhile, the Blue Hose drop to 8-15 on the season and 6-6 against conference foes.
The Highlanders were able to win the first set after overcoming a late deficit where the Highlanders were faced with a 20-18 scoreline. Using an impressive 11 kills (Flanagan accounting for eight of those) and six blocks in the set would allow the Highlanders to go on a 7-2 run against the Blue Hose to make the comeback and win the first set 25-22.
With 15 kills boosted by six errors by the Blue Hose and a trio of blocks that came within the second set the Highlanders were able to come out on top in another close 25-22 set and make the scoreline 2-0.
The Highlanders finished with their best set to finish the night. Starting with a 9-3 run to kick things off, the Blue Hose would respond with a 7-3 run of their own. The Highlanders stood strong and would maintain the lead for the remainder of the night. The Highlanders would finish with 12 kills in the final set to give them a comfortable 25-15 third set win to finish off the 3-0 victory.
