Radford Takes Third at HEB Tournament of Champions with Win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Radford men's tennis program finished their weekend at the HEB Tournament of Champions in style Saturday morning as the team dispatched the tournament hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 4-0.

For the doubles point, the Highlanders were dominant once again. The Greek duo Demis Taramonlis and Konstantinos Raptis picked up a solid 6-3 win on court one while Aditya Balsekar and Guilherme Severin clinched the doubles point on court two 6-4. Charles Courteau and Robert Hagen were cruising and up 5-2 before their game went unfinished.

The Highlanders continued to cruise into singles play to quickly earn their 4-0 victory. Taramonlis picked up another win 6-3, 6-2 on court one while Balsekar battled off his opponent in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 6-0 on court two. Raptis was dominant on court three winning 6-2, 7-5 to wrap up the victorious Highlanders.

Hagen was in the process of attempting a comeback on court five as he was battling his opponent 3-6, 4-3. Courteau was on the same path as well in the third set of his match 2-6, 6-3, 0-1.

The win marked the end of a great weekend in Texas for Radford. The Highlanders faced three Texas-based teams in the tournament and came out with a 2-1 overall record.
 
UP NEXT
The road warriors that have been Radford this season will finally return home in their next match. Radford is currently set to host James Madison on Saturday, February 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the Radford Tennis Complex.
