Radford Picks Up Second Big South Win at UNC Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Radford men's tennis program moved to 2-0 in Big South play Monday afternoon with a strong 5-2 road victory over UNC Asheville.

The Highlanders got things going with another round of dominant of doubles play. Aditya Balsekar and Guilherme Severin won 6-2 on court two. Demis Taramonlis and Dinos Raptis won once again on the top flight 6-3 to seal the early 1-0 advantage for Radford.

Severin continues to collect highlights as he opened singles play for the Highlanders with another dominant win on court four 6-1, 6-2. The win was Severin's sixth of the season and third straight. Taramonlis picked up a dominant rebound victory as well on court one 6-2, 6-2 that gave Radford a 3-0 lead.

Just needing one more court to clinch in enemy territory, the Highlanders would pick up a pair in three sets. Charles Courteau came back after dropping his first set 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 while Balsekar earned a hard fought win 7-6(6), 0-6, 6-4 to wrap up the victorious Highlanders.

Today's win for the Highlanders in Asheville, N.C. was the first win at UNC Asheville since 2015. It's also the second straight victory for Radford over UNC Asheville. Taramonlis and Balsekar played large roles in last season's win over the Bulldogs, and the duo did it once again today.
