RADFORD, Va. — On the strength of five home runs, the No. 18 Campbell offense proved too much to handle as the Radford baseball team fell to the visiting Fighting Camels by a 13-2 final on Friday evening at Carter Memorial Stadium in their Big South opener.
Runs were tough to come by for the Highlanders (7-15, 0-1 Big South), who were held to four hits as a team. Radford did strike for a pair in the seventh inning, as they drew three consecutive walks to loaded the bases. Third baseman Ryan Gilmore plated Peyton Henry with a groundout, while right fielder Paul Moore came in to score on a wild pitch in the ensuing at-bat.
Shortstop Sully Tibbs was on base twice, going 1-for-3 with a walk. Henry also drew a pair of bases on balls.
Cade Kuehler was the winning pitcher for Campbell (17-3, 4-0 Big South), while Clay Clatterbaugh took the loss for Radford.
