Smith Stays Hot, Highlanders Fall Against Spartans

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford softball program fell in a tough one Sunday afternoon in the series finale against USC Upstate with a finale score of 17-3.

The Highlanders got off to another good start in today's game thanks to the offensive firepower of Rachel Smith. After USC Upstate took an early 1-0 lead, Rachel Smith hit her third home run of the week in the bottom half of the inning which gave Radford the early 2-1 lead.

From there, the Spartans would score 16 runs over the next four innings to take control. Radford would score another run in the bottom of the second thanks to doubles by Qween Edmonds and Laura Thompson.

UP NEXT
The Highlanders will quickly be back in action in just a couple days as they make the short trip to Blacksburg, Va. to take on the 20th-ranked Virginia Tech Tuesday, April 18th at 6 p.m.
