RADFORD, Va. – Transfer
Jack Urban and true freshman
Benson Blevins have joined the Radford men's golf program for the 2023-24 season, Head Coach Michael Grant announced.
Urban makes his way to the New River Valley from Rider University, where he played for two years. The Upper St. Clair, Pa. native was excellent for the Broncs, posting a 76.17 scoring average across 24 rounds as a freshman before improving to a stellar 73.15 scoring average in his sophomore campaign.
He was named MAAC Golfer of the Week on April 20, 2022 after finishing fourth at the Wildcat Spring Invitational (142, +2), including a season-low round of 69 (-1). Urban also earned a second-place finish at the Bucknell Invitational on October 11, 2022, shooting a five-under par 65 in the final round.
Urban played a major role in the Broncs' first-ever MAAC championship during the 2021-22 season and gained experience playing at NCAA Regionals in Oklahoma.
Blevins stays close to home and joins his brother, Channing, at Radford after graduating from George Wythe High School in Wytheville, Va.
In his high school career, the younger Blevins brother was a VHSL 1A state champion and VSGA Mid-Atlantic Junior champion, both in 2021. He also qualified for VSGA match play and added a pair of top-10 finishes – 6
th at the AJGA Bluegrass Junior and 8
th in the Tillinghast Invitational.
The duo joins a Highlander squad coming off an extremely strong 2022-23 season in which they placed first in Big South Championships stroke play and
Bryce Corbett represented the program at NCAA Regionals for the first time in school history.
