DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Radford men's golf team couldn't have started the 2023-24 season any better, shooting 279-279-276—834 (-6) to win the team title at Davidson's River Run Collegiate.
 
The Highlanders trailed East Carolina heading into the final stretch, but the two squads went in completely different directions as Radford ended its third round with a 4-under par while the Pirates shot a 7-over par to relinquish their lead and fall behind by five strokes.
 
Reigning Big South Golfer of the Year Bryce Corbett led the charge, placing second in a field of 80 competitors. In his first action since playing in the NCAA Regionals last spring, he shot -7, including a low round of 66.
 
Coming back for his final year of eligibility, Nicholas Taliaferro wasted no time making an impact, tying for third at -4. He jumped nine spots up the individual leaderboard in the third round thanks to a spectacular 65 that featured five birdies and nary a bogey.
 
Bobby Dudeck gave the Highlanders a third golfer in the top-10, shooting -1 to tie for 8^th. The Williamsburg product was steady across all three rounds, but shined brightest in the second when he shot a 68 thank included an incredible run of five straight birdies between the second and sixth holes.
 
Making his Radford debut a successful one was Jack Urban, who tied for 28^th at +7. He was in great shape through two rounds with back-to-back 71's, but stumbled slightly for a third-round 75.
 
Patrick Gareiss was the final Highlander to cross the finish line, shooting +12 to tie for 48^th.
 
Radford tallied a whopping 56 birdies as a team, 14 more than the next closest – Old Dominion (42). The Highlanders shot +9 on Par 4s which topped all teams and +6 on Par 3s which was second-best.

UP NEXT
The Highlanders have a week off before hitting the road to Cashiers, N.C. for the JT Poston Collegiate, hosted by Western Carolina. The tournament will begin on Monday, Sept. 25 and conclude on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
