Volleyball Dominates Presbyterian 3-0 to Complete Perfect Weekend

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford volleyball program swept their second straight opponent at home with a dominant 3-0 victory over Presbyterian Saturday afternoon.
 
KEY STATS
  • Radford's defense was a stone wall today as Presbyterian hit just .000 in the match, the Highlanders hit .244 on the opposite end.
  • The beat went on for Sydney Mundkowsky who notched another 14 kills.
  • Sophie Paspal and Aubrey Hatch both also had 5+ kills.
  • Sierra Moore fueled multiple runs with her four aces in the match.
 
PLAY BY PLAY
Early into the match, Radford would announce their presence early. The Highlanders were down 6-5 to the Blue Hose but went on a 6-0 run to take a commanding lead. During the run, Radford forced Presbyterian into three attack errors while Taryn Roberts earned a pair of kills.
 
Up 14-10, Radford got another 6-1 run once again fueled by three Presbyterian attack errors and a pair of kills from Mundkowsky. Already up big, Radford cruised the rest of the way to claim a 25-14 victory in the first set.
 
In set two, the Highlanders continued their incredibly hot start. Radford scored eight unanswered points to start the set, an 11-0 run including the end of the first set. The Highlanders got kills from four different players spreading the love around the court while Miranda Howard also notched an ace.
 
Up 10-1, Radford never faltered in the second set. With another dosage of kills from Mundkowsky and Aubrey Hatch, Presbyterian's errors started to really mount as the Highlanders cruised to a 25-12 final in the second set.
 
Radford was determined to finish the weekend unscathed. For the third set, things began as a back-and-forth affair until a 5-0 run allowed the team to pull away at 14-8. The Highlanders never looked back, winning the final set with ease 25-18 to seal the sweep.
 
NOTABLES
  • The Highlanders open Big South play with two straight wins for the first time since the 2020 season, which was played in Spring 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Radford is now 18-12 against Presbyterian all-time, winning four of the last five meetings.
  • Ryle Sloss eclipsed 100 assists on the season today with her total now at 108.
  • Julia Slivka also eclipsed 100 digs in today's match while Miranda Howard sits just short of 200 at 195.
 
AROUND THE BIG SOUTH
  • High Point also completed a clean weekend with another sweep 3-0 over Charleston Southern.
  • Winthrop earned their first win of conference play in dominant fashion 3-0 over USC Upstate.
 
UP NEXT
The Highlanders will go back on the road for their next pair of Big South matches next weekend against UNC Asheville (Oct. 11) and USC Upstate (Oct. 12).
