Men’s Basketball celebrates first win of the year in home opener vs. William & Mary

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's basketball program got to celebrate their home opener in style as the Highlanders collected the first win of their 2024-25 campaign with an 89-77 victory over William & Mary at the Dedmon Center on Friday night.

A hard-fought opening half led to Radford pulling away in the final 20 minutes. The Highlanders finished out the dub on a 22-11 run to seal their first victory of the season.

Radford was led by Jarvis Moss's 24 points in a total team effort as five different student-athletes posted double-digits in scoring and 11 Highlanders made an impact on the stat sheet overall.

Radford held a 42-39 lead at the half (after scoring seven of the half's final nine points), but William & Mary led 65-60 with just 9:26 left in the contest. That is when the Highlanders went on their game-changing run with a 17-3 stretch to seal the victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Moss led all scorers with his 24 points off an 8-of-15 night from the field. He also knocked down 4-of-9 of his three-point attempts. The scoring outburst set a new collegiate high for the Concord, North Carolina native.
- Ibu Yamazaki went off and dropped a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor performance, which included a mark of 4-for-4 from beyond the arc, to finish with 17 points off the bench in 24 minutes of action.
- Brandon Maclin added 14 points, eight boards and a game-high four assists.
- Both TJ NeSmith (two rebounds, one steal) and Josiah Harris (six boards, one assist and a game-high four blocks) chipped in 10 points apiece, respectively.
- Radford finished the evening at an even 50 percent from the field (27-of-54) to go with a three-point clip of nearly 38 percent (11-of-29).
- The Highlanders recorded a 41-34 edge in rebounds and was 24-of-24 from the charity stripe (70.6 percent).

Radford remains at home for a huge showdown with Old Dominion, set for Tuesday, November 12 at 7 PM ET inside the Dedmon Center.
