Highlanders Fall to Notre Dame in Game 1 of Double Midweek Action

RADFORD, Va. - The Radford Baseball program fell to Notre Dame Tuesday evening at Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium in the first game of two midweeks against the Fighting Irish.

In the first inning of today's matchup, Breckin Nace would get the Highlanders off to a good start going three up three down as he would strike out one batter, retire the next and finally striking out the last to keep Notre Dame hitless in the first.

In the second the Fighting Irish would get on the board first as they would score a pair of runs. For the fourth they would add on another run off a sacrifice fly making the score 3-0 before leaving the inning.

In the sixth Notre Dame would add to their lead with a single run in the top of inning. The Highlanders would get on the board in the bottom of the inning after a Pittman sacrifice fly would allow Hunter Keen to find home plate. The Fighting Irish would rally in seventh to add on their final six runs of the evening that would make the score 10-1 before heading into the eighth.

For the eighth the Highlanders would tack their last two runs with Brady Whitacre on second and Austin Stalker at first after a walk. Hunter Keen would be the one that would double to center field driving in Whitacre and Stalker for the runs. But it wouldn't be enough as the Highlanders would ultimately fall to Notre Dame at 10-3.
