HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Radford Baseball team fell 2-1 against High Point Thursday evening at Williard Stadium after the Panthers would secure the walk-off in the bottom of the ninth to take game one of the series.
The first three innings in today's first game of the series had boths squads locked in a pitcher's duel. A double play in two straight innings by the Highlanders' infield and two straight strikeouts by Scott Rouse in the bottom of the third was what left the Panthers hitless and pushed Rouse through three clean innings heading to the fourth.
For the fourth, High Point would score first after a home run to left field would see the Panthers take the one run lead. The Highlanders in the sixth would respond in a similar fashion when Carson Bell would hit a home run to the opposite field and knot the game back up at 1-1. Drew Stanley would relieve Rouse in the seventh, recording two strike outs. In the eighth with two runners in scoring position, Stanley would record a huge strike out that would leave the two runners stranded. But in the ninth, a double down the left field line would bring in High Point's second run and end this one at 2-1.
