Dover, Del. – Radford women's lacrosse started their road trip with a 13-7 win against Delaware State Wednesday morning. Freshman
Maddie Abbott earned her first trick of the season while Graduate Student
Margaret Gleason made five goals.
Abbott's first goal was the first for the game with an assist from fellow Freshman
Piper Galbraith. Less than 90 seconds later, Ashyln Grogan picked up the ball and connect to the back of the net to put the Highlanders up by two. The next three minutes were scoreless following Delaware State's first goal. Abbott ended the scoring drought to further the lead. The quarter ended 4-1 in favor of Radford with
Margaret Gleason scoring her first goal of the game.
The Highlanders started scoring just 46 seconds into the fresh quarter with another Abbott goal to complete her hat trick. Immediately after
McKenzie Hines won the draw control came Gleason's second goal. By 12:09 the Highlanders led 7-1. The Hornets tried to shorten the gap by adding two goals to their previous one goal. However, Gleason took advantage of the free position and continued the lead.
Linley Tirrell added her name to the scoring column for Radford. The team entered halftime leading 9-4.
The third quarter was the lowest scoring quarter with each team scoring one goal apiece. Radford's goal was accomplished by Grogan to get her second hat trick of the season.
The fourth quarter brought back-to-back goals by Gleason to conclude her five goal game.
Molly O'Brien had the last goal for the Highlanders putting them ahead by eight. Delaware State scored two more goals to make the final score 13-7.

The Highlanders continue their road trip at Howard on Saturday, March 9th at 12 pm.
