RADFORD, Va. - The Radford Baseball team dropped the series opener to Gardner-Webb on Friday evening at Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium with a final score of 9-1.
The Runnin' Bulldogs would get things started early scoring two runs in the first. They would add on another in the second to give them the early 3-0 lead. In the fourth, Gardner-Webb would add two more to their lead. Their first run of the inning came off a homer to left field and a wild pitch would add their second to extend their lead to 5-0.
In the sixth, Austin Stalker would get the Highlanders on the board hitting a solo shot home run to center field to make it a 5-1 game. However, in the seventh, the Runnin' Bulldogs would tack one run and follow up with another in the eighth to give them the six-run cushion at 7-1 heading into the ninth. Gardner-Webb would add on their final two runs in the ninth and finish game one of the series at 9-1.

Austin Stalker hit his second home run of the season and is just one away to tie his career high. This will also make it his fifth home run of his career.

Cameron Pittman now has 13 stolen bases on the season and is tied with Corbin Grantham in leading the category.

The Highlanders will remain at Carter Memorial to face Gardner-Webb for game two of the conference series. Game two will be played on Saturday, Apr. 27 and is set for a 4 P.M. start.
