CLINTON, S.C. - The Radford Baseball team fell to Presbyterian in the series opener with a final score of 4-2 on Friday evening at PC Baseball Complex.
Presbyterian would open scoring as the Blue Hose batter would single up the middle drive in a runner and take the early 1-0 lead. In the third the Highlanders would tie the score back up. Austin Stalker would walk to first while Biggerstaff would reach first off an error from the third baseman and move Stalker second. Perez would ground out on a sacrifice bunt to the first baseman but that allowed Stalker to continue his way around the bases reaching third. A ground out by Pittman would finally bring Stalker home to make the score 1-1.
The Blue Hose would regain their lead in the bottom of the inning as they would add on a single run. Rouse would limit the damage as he would pick up a pair of strikeouts that would send the game to the fourth.
In the fifth, the Highlanders would put another run on the board to level the score once more. Biggerstaff would be the one to thank for the run as he would double to right center and Jhonkeanu Perez would triple to center field that would open the opportunity for Biggerstaff to reach home. However, the Blue Hose in the bottom of the inning put on their third run of the evening to recover their lead. Rouse would end the inning going back-to-back on strikeouts to send this one to the sixth.
For the eighth, Presbyterian would steal home to add on their final run off the evening. The Highlanders were unable to find a response in the ninth and Presbyterian would take the 4-2 win in game one of the series.
